It is More Than a Test
It is a Conversation
When you visit our clinic for a hearing evaluation, you will be met with so much more than just machines and numbers. You will find a staff that is curious, that cares, and that focuses on your personal experience. Dr. Casey Combs, Au.D., has over eight years of experience in audiology and understands that hearing loss affects way more than volume. It can affect confidence levels, hinder relationships, and disrupt your daily life.
What to Expect During a Comprehensive Hearing Test
We utilize a wide range of testing methods to ensure nothing gets overlooked. Our evaluations are thorough, yet easy to follow. They are suitable for adults and children six years old or older. We also do our best to make every step as comfortable as possible, explaining what we are doing and why it is necessary.

Who Should Get a Hearing Evaluation?
You do not have to be struggling to hear to benefit from a hearing test. In fact, early testing can help catch small changes or losses before they start affecting your everyday life. We recommend regular hearing evaluations for any adults who are over the age of 50, even if there are no symptoms. We also recommend testing for anyone who has noticed difficulty in understanding conversations or those with a history of noise exposure, ear infections, or hearing loss in the family. Even children who are six or older and are struggling with speech, language, or learning can benefit from an exam. Of course, those who already wear hearing aids and want to check for changes or reprogramming are always welcome.
why does accuracy matter?
We are Here for the Long Haul
Your hearing changes over time.
This is natural. Still, your care should reflect changes. At Sound on Audiology, we offer regular re-evaluations and hearing aid check-ins as part of your long-term hearing wellness. We coordinate with local physicians and specialists if further treatment or medical evaluation is necessary. Since we are based in Derby and serve all the surrounding areas, you will never need to travel very far to stay on top of your hearing health.
By placing a tiny microphone in your ear canal during the fitting, we can measure how sound actually reaches your eardrum. This lets us fine-tune your devices in real time, right in the office. It’s one of the most accurate and effective ways to ensure your hearing aids truly match your hearing prescription. Many clinics skip this step—but at Sound On Audiology, we believe it’s essential to delivering care that works for you, not just care that’s “good enough.”
